Tens of thousands of largely young people held rallies in cities across Germany on Friday in response to a call for a climate strike by the Fridays for Future campaign group. Greta Thunberg, 18, who launched the movement three years ago, addressed thousands who gathered near the Reichsstag building in the German capital. Seen onjectively, Germany was one of the biggest climate wrongdoers, she said, in an address just two days before the country votes in an election in which climate change has been a major campaign issue.
