German Greens seek coalition with Social Democrats, liberals

The German Green Party says they want to start formal talks with the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) and the liberal Free Democrats (FDP) on forming a three-way coalition government. Since national elections on September 26, both the SPD and the conservative CDU/CSU bloc of outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel have been trying to convince the two smaller parties to join them in coalition.
